Jennie grew up on her father's dairy farm and participated in national dairy competitions. She attended classes in Michigan State University's Animal Science Program. There she joined the Dairy Club and Undergraduate Research Association. She entered and attened MSU Dairy Challenge Competitions, National Dairy Research Events, and Tri-State Dairy nutrition conferences.
She had internships at local dairy farms including Agri-King and the Kellogg Biological Station Dairy Farm. She spent two years working at CJD Farm Consulting writing concentrated nutrient management plans. Then she worked at Dairyland Laboratories analyzing feed/forage samples for mineral content. She now works for Neogen Quality Control testing antibiotics in milk.
